How to pick and organize your cables, chargers and other mobile accessories in a stress-free way.
Common scenarios:
a) tangled up wires inside your bag. It takes you a while to untangle the one you need at the moment
b) Battery’s almost dead and you can’t charge. Must have left your charger at home/office etc… *nuuu
Dilemma:
Cables and chargers. How many do I need? How to make sure I have em when I need em? How to organize them?
Here are some questions that might help you determine the practical number of chargers to own.
- Where do you usually hang out?
- How many devices you own/ need to charge?
- What are the types of cables (usb c, micro usb, lightning) used
In my case:
1. House, office, malls/coffee shop
2. & 3.
- phone – usb c
- spare phone – micro usb
- pocket wifi – micro usb
- power bank – micro usb
- laptop – usb c (own charger)
- switch – usb c (own charger)
My fail-safe and stress-free solution
Have at least one of each type per location (2 if you have more devices using this).
You can have more if you want but this is my sweet spot.
A) 🏡 House – 2 cables (1 usb c , 1 micro usb) with 2 adapters
B) 🌁 Office – 3 cables (1 usb c, 2 micro usb), 1 dual-port adapter, 1 standard adapter
C) 🎒 Bag – 2 cables (1 usb c , 1 micro usb) and 1 dual port adapter
D) ✨ Special chargers – Goes with wherever your device is
Purchasing Cables:
Tip: Buy quality cables and charges like from Apple or Anker
Avoid buying cheap generic cables. Especially on lightning cables – more finicky than other types. They break down after a couple of weeks then leave you no choice but to purchase another one again. In the long run, you end up spending more money than buying that 1 expensive item – learned it the costly way. Plus you’re throwing away more e-trash. Double negative.
Purchasing Chargers:
If you want to reduce the number of adapters you bring, you can buy a dual or even quadruple port.
Organizing:
Place your objects in a organized system for easier access and longer lifespan. You avoid having to pull your cables from an entangled mess which what ruins the wires after a while.
Now to the best part. Pick one which is suitable for you.
– Pouches
If you want your cables segregated in groups
– Gadget organizer
I got mine here. Pull it up and you can see everything in one go.
A step further:
Buy a plug with a switch so you don’t have to keep unplugging your chargers after using. I have been using this panther voltage surge protector for years and it still lives!
or
TLDR:
1. Leave a set of chargers on each main location, including your bag
2. Buy quality cables of a brand with a great track record
3. Keep them organized in pouches or a gadget organizer.
It took me a while to come up with this system since I used to tolerate of having just 2 chargers that I use everywhere. Hope it helps you in any way! Byeeee
